Hi all. I have a Sony Vaio lap top (VGN-CS220J) & am running windows vista premium. I've been very happy with this computer since I bought it in February and have not had any problems until 2 days ago.
I plugged in a Cruzer USB flash drive to transfer a resume onto it. Everything was fine, until I unplugged the drive... at that time I immediately got the BSoD screen. I restarted and all seemed to be well for about 30 minutes and then the BSoD came up again. Last night as I was surfing the net, many images and/or buttons were distorted and some pages wouldn't load w/out errors. After about 2 hours I received the BSoD screen again 3 to 4 more times. I finally gave up and decided to try to look into things today. This morning I attempted to restore to an earlier time when everything was working fine and it'd say that it would take a few moments only so that after about 30-60 seconds I would get the BSoD. With each BSoD, it would say stop: 0x0000007E. I found a "fix" online but said that it'd only work with 32bit and that I'm running 64bit. Also each time that my lap top has restarted today, I'm getting a message saying: Windows Defender - Application failed to initialize:0x800106ba. A problem caused this program's service to stop. To start the service, restart your computer or search Help and Support for how to start a service manually. I finally found hijackthis and it advised me to post my log here for assitance, which I have done in an attachment. I'd really appreciate any and all help that could be given on this issue. Thank you so very much for your time and assistance.
