well, having studied Bruce's Art for years I can tell you that JKD is very effective in any fighting situation. and Mr. Lee was the best.
extreme power, speed, timing ect ect., He looked way different in actual combat than in his movies, straightblasting his opponent to the ground ect. He would have beat many of the greats and at his prime. I would probably say that he would get several crowns. He also would have incorporated more grappling into JKD as us JKDC practitioners have.
In the UFC ring it still does not mimic actual combat on the street where things such as Bui Jee (eye strikes) and other devistating techniques cannot be used.
JKD has strong ties to wing chun and it's simplicity and centerline attack ect.
Well, I could go on and on
there is alot of good fighters out there
and each have their time to shine, Bruce Lee had his.

I had to give up jkd because of recurring shoulder injury(to much straight blasting and powerdrills) but i loved it. I am looking forward to starting training again, I think a mixture of judo and tae kwondo will serve my needs well!
I wonder if bruce would have incorporated more grappling into jkd. Given that speed and explosive power were such a part of his game, and in a street fight the last thing you want to do is go to the ground?!

Bruce may have incorporated more Grappling such as Ju jitsu into JKD. But, in JKd you train to figure out intention, intercept and then use destruction before getting to the ground. But having a strong ground game is important. In a street fight anything can happen and does. Grappling can get you in trouble with multi attackers or armed attack. In JKD; extreme moblity, stop hits & kicks, straight blasts, pak to lop and chi sao ect. are incorporated . JKD is simplistic and very effective on the street, where it matters most.
In grappling I prefer NHB style training as we do in JKD sparring or twin stickfighting ect..

Nope, I can vouch that the guy is not behaving in anything like a trolly fashion. See his responses to my poking in the Ultimate Animal Fighting ( ) thread. He is courteous and has a good sense of humour.

I meant no offence or annoyance. I did read the rules(once) abot twelve hours ago. I wont make this mistake again. I would appreciate it if someone would give me an outline on trollesque behaviour , I wouldnt want to hunted down and killed without clemency.

Nny, I was actually attempting to be kind of funny, because in another thread I believe they referred to you as a troll. So if I offended you, I am sorry. However, I am still of the opinion that you are someone else currently posting in this site. And here in America I have the right to my opinion and the freedom of speech etc. If you truly are not one of the trolls, then you are pretty funny, I loved the Irish film thing.

how weird is that? i get the same thing at the Ymca. for the longest time the girls giving out the lockers would say to me "I don't have 1128 available, will ???? number be OK?" I was like fine. Never giving much thought to it. Until one day she asked me why I liked 1128 so much. I was like "I don't, but you all insist on me having that one" Turns out there is someone who looks like me who always asks for 1128, now wasn't that a boring little story?
