Hi,

I was wondering if there was a program that blocks Internet access unless you have entered a user name and password. I have ADSL broadband always on Internet. It is connected to a network of computers and a laptop.

It would be good if it had time limits (allowing access for 30minutes then re-asking password).

Is there something like this? for Windows computers

YOu would need to run a proxy server.

Modemlockdown has something like it. Except it is only free for 30days then its $10. Maybe I will just purchase this.

I am thinking that is not going to work if you are using a Router to share your DSL connection, unless it is specifically blocking certain TCP/IP protocols and it integrates into the sam databse. I am not sure though. I would need to test it out.

You might want to look into Ports Lock as well.

I downloaded the 30 day trial, it does work well, and blocks DSL connection. The only problem is that it also blocks network printers and files.

So somehow it is deny complete access to any network connection. That is bad. Try portslock. It is much more configurable. You can deny access based on the Protocol.
