Dear Friends,
I bought a new SOYO SY-P41 845PE Lite motherboard, along with a 2.66 GHz Intel CPU, and am having problems getting a picture on my monitor after installing them. The screen just stays black.I know the monitor is okay because it works fine when connected to another, working computer.
The troubleshooting procedure recommended on the SOYO web-site is to pare the computer-components down to a bare minimum to try to isolate the problem.
That means that the only thing plugged in --aside from the power-supply cord into the wall-socket-- is the monitor cable to the video card, which is plugged into the AGP extension slot of the mother board. And the only other things plugged into the mother board are the power-supply (main ATX power-plug and +12v power-connector), CPU (with fan), the computer-box switch and the case-speaker. There are to be no RAM modules installed and no floppy, CD-ROM, or hard-drives installed nor mouse nor keyboard connected.
After connecting the components in that fashion, the case and CPU fans go on but there are no beeps and nothing appears on the monitor screen. Unless someone has another suggestion, that occurrence is suppposed to mean that either the motherboard or CPU (or both) must be defective and replaced.
Any other troubleshooting suggestions?
Regards,
Jack Owens
