"Boot device not found", "SATA 1 not found" on startup??

I bought a refurbished Dell Optiplex 780 running windows 7 a few days back, was running fine until this morning where I woke up to see the error along the lines of "SATA 1 not found" which is strange as the computer was on sleep mode overnight with no background operations. Tried restarting it several times to receive the message "Boot drive unavailable", looking in the boot menu the drive ID shows on the SATA 1 port. I can't get into safe mode either. Is there anything that can be done or is the drive somehow corrupted? Any help would be appreciated :)

You may want to check your hard drive to see if it is not disconnected.
If you still get the errors that means your HDD needs to be replaced.
