Did chkdisk found any problem with your drive?
Did you create a partition using a software like Partition Magic ?

What is the exact STOP Error?

You said that you were able to boot to safe mode is that correct?
If yes, can you boot to safe mode with networking and install the servive pack?

Since you able to boot to safe mode only then I would try the following:

1) Disable Network card from device manager or BIOS, then test to see if you able to boot to safe mode with networking.

Do you get same exact error message when you boot to safe mode with networking?
