Blue Screen Stop message

I am getting the "blue screen" message when I close MSFlight Sim 9.
STOP: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005,0x00000000,0xAE261C4C,0x00000000)

I have shut down ZA & Avast when running fs9 thinking I might be overloading the RAM but this does not seem to matter. My system is a 2002 Systemax 1.9GHz, 2GB ram & an 80GB HD. Not new but has served me well and replacing at this time ain't in the plan. I also ran HiJack This just in case that might give some answers.

Any help will be appreciateded.

When did these begin ? Have you installed anything new?

Have you tried a System Restore to a date prior to the problems? These can be undone if not helpful: Start > run: msconfig > Launch System Restore and look for a date prior to these crashes.

I see you have "scrub.exe" running. I can run a debugger on the dump files, but scrub may be deleting them -- so if you don't find any, disable that and wait for some new ones:

I can run a debugging utility on the dump files if you do this:

1 > create a new folder on the desktop and call it "dumpcheck" or whatever you like
2 > navigate to c:\windows\minidump and copy the last few minidump files to that folder. *this assumes 'c' is your boot drive, if it is not, subsitute accordingly
3 > close the folder and right click on it and select Send to Compressed (zipped) Folder.
4 > use the "manage attachments" in the "advanced" reply window to upload that zip file here as an attachment.

This might point us to a non Microsoft driver causing the error, if one exists for it.

Thank you for the reply. Here goes...
1. This has happened before. Been awhile(year or two) but now seems to happen ONLY when I'm in Flight Sim 9. Does not seem to matter what else is running, if it's going to crash it does. In fact I just had another one this morning. Newest error message
STOP: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005,0x00000000,0xB4887C4C,0x00000000)

2. System Restore: Cannot run the system restore. I have apparently lost some of the XP(home) software, including the help files and DO NOT have the original disks. I've considered buying XP Pro and doing a clean install which I have a feeling is about the only fix that will truly work. Just have'nt done it. No other excuse.

3. Scrub ex: Shut it down like you said after looking in the mini-dump and finding it empty. The "dumpcheck" file is the result of the lastest crash. Seems appropriate don't you think?

4. The file is attached, I hope, and maybe you can do something with it. Please understand, I'd like a miracle answer but I know that is unlikely. I know just enough about computors to be dangerous so I'll leave you to draw your own conclusions.

Try testing without Avast (uninstall it). If you get any BSODs with it uninstalled, upload the minidumps for them. If you do not, reinstall Avast and see if the problem is resolved.

If not, try a different antivirus. Personally I use Avast now myself rather than AVG, but folks have different experiencies depending on their personal systems.

I am very reluctant to uninstall Avast. I also used to use AVG but I have found Avast to be far better on the detection side. Slowed me down some, but I'll accept that for the protection. Regarding the last crash, I think I forgot to stop Avast and to put ZA in "game mode" so I may have helped the problem. I'll see if there are any more "crashes". This may take awhile. Thank you for generous time and response.
