hey guys, a friend and i were trying to format another hard drive and mine so we took the one i had in and put the other one and we werer at it for a while so we gave up for the night and i broght the computer back home and i put the hard drive back in that worked and i get a blue screen and says " unmountable_boot_Volume. Now i have XP and i can get into safe mode so it cant be that bad. see what you guys can do :) thanks!

Reboot with the xp cdrom and enter the recovery console.
type FIXBOOT and answer yes after

type in the following commands and after each click enter and be sure to leave all spaces exactly as they are..

CD \
ATTRIB -H NTLDR
ATTRIB -S NTLDR
ATTRIB -R NTLDR
ATTRIB -H NTDETECT.COM
ATTRIB -S NTDETECT.COM
ATTRIB -R NTDETECT.COM
COPY X:\I386\NTLDR C:\ (X IS THE LETTER OF YOUR CDROM)
COPY X:\I386\NTDETECT.COM C:\ (X IS THE LETTER OF YOUR CDROM)

Afterwards reboot

ok i go to put in my xp cd and i get bootable disk doesnt exist , so i dont whats going on. But anyway how did this kind of thing happen with the harddrive?
