Blue Screen of death

1022 Views 6 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  blues_harp28
I have a dell precision m4700 with 32gig of ram. For some reason it will crash with the blue screen of death regularly. I get message about PRN LIST, MEMORY MANAGEMENT and things like that. I did a search on the internet and certain programs were recommended to fix it but nothing works. I alway update my drivers and use strong security software. Whats the problem? Hardware failure?

How old is your pc and what operating system was installed before you upgraded to Windows 10 on 26-08-2019?
When does your pc blue screen, usual pc use, playing games, watching videos, etc?

Run an internal memory test. You will find it under Control Panel > System and Security > Administrative Tools.

Let us know what it finds. You may need to test the memory by using an external memory test run from a DVD.

According to Dell, this machine was originally shipped with Windows 7 Professional. This machine has 4x 8GB memory modules. I agree that a Memtest would be a good choice. It may find a fault with one of the modules.

FYI, the BIOS and video drivers have been updated to resolve a security issue. You may want to look into that later.

Windows Memory Diagnostic show no memory issues. I always keep my drivers current.

The test you just did is Windows checking Windows - run an external memory test using memtest86
https://www.memtest86.com/download.htm
http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/memtest86.html

Download the ISO file then burn to a DVD
Start the Pc using the DVD and run the memory test overnight or for at least 8 passes.
It is best to run a full scan on individual Ram sticks if you can.
Or run the test but if any errors are shown - then remove all sticks of Ram - test each Ram stick one at a time and test them in different slots.
