Recently when I am playing a game for a bit, the program shuts down and a blank blue screen appears with with no errors and a high pitch sound. This has happened a few times and I cannot find the cause of it nor can I make it happen. It does it on its own. Furthermore, it only happens with in games, not other applications nor if the computer sits idle. The only way to fix the issue is to restart the computer. Then all is fine and works as it should. I am baffled as to why this happens. I have theorized it could be the sign of a ageing video card since it happens during games and thus freezes the computer.

If you have any thoughts on this, please let me know.

sounds like the video card to me - try loading the latest drivers

Installed new drivers. I have not received the Blue screen again, but as I said, it happens every now and then. If it happens again, I will let you know.

Be sure all fans are running....some video cards have fans as well but do not just check that one. Even the power supply has a fan that when it does not run can cause freezing. Any fan can cause it.
