Hi, the problem im having is that windows makes a blue screen at random times whenever i load an application usually like a game or sound and then reboots itself. On reboot it says the error should be reported and that my system has recovered from a serious problem. I then report it and it directs me to a windows webpage that says its driver related. "Device driver"

STOP 0x000000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER

STOP: 0x100000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER_M

After this happened, i rebooted the pc and windows ran a Scandisk to repair corrupt files. I was then playing games e.t.c for a few days or so with the occasional system crash and reboot/lock up and thought that i would have to live with that until today when the pc loaded up and it said.

dwwin.exe - Bade Image
The application or DLL C:\WINDOWS\system32\riched20.dll is not a valid windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette.

There is also another red X error message that pops up as windows loads but disappears to fast before i can note it down.

My system is a
AMD athlon 64 3500 @2.2ghz
1GB pc3200
Geforce 6800GS
Nforce Asus Mobo
Creative audigy 2 SE sound card.

Ive installed all the latest drivers for my video card, sound card and all the crucial windows updates. My speakers frequently make a popping sound i thought this is just interference with other electrical devices as they are cheap $25 creative i trigue ones. Ive heard there is a conflict between nForce mobo's and creative sound cards?.

I have norton 2006 Antivirus always running with autoprotect in the green. and AVG Anti spyware 7.5 on all the time with original windows firewall off. ive scanned for viruses and removed all cookies.

I cannot run any applications at the moment because of the constant error message popping saying the app im running is bad image. Where do i begin with this problem? Thank you.

Start by running system file check. Open a command window (Start > Run > type in cmd

When the command window opens, type in sfc /scannow

You may be asked for your installation CD, so have it handy. This will restore any corrupt system files.

You can run system file checker without the CD. Windows has a DLL cache that it uses to restore corrupted system files. If the file needed is not in the cache, Windows asks for the CD. Go ahead and run it. If it asks for the CD, it will also give you an option to quit the utility.

You're going to need a CD to do a repair/reinstall.

Then you'll need to post a HijackThis log.

Hello again, ive recently aqquired a new windows XP home CD to do a repair as suggested, when i select repair it asks me for my Administrators password, the problem is i dont know what that is, and i enter 3 passwords and it restarts because i have failed to enter the correct.

I log into my desktop to change my user account password from user account/control panel, but it has no effect to my administrators password. I do not wish to format my PC, what is the viable solution so i can repair, how does one recover there admin password?

Thanks.

Edit: I seem to have changed my Admin password by going to Run/control userpasswords2 and changing it to what i want.

When i rebooted it asked me to enter my password again i did so and it seemed to accept it, no Invalid password came up. It asked me what setting to go to i selected 1 which was C:\Windows. I did so, but it did not continue, it was just paused at C:\Windows and allowed me to type, and select 1 again, or do help, but did not continue to repair mode why is this?

Well...

It looks like you are in the repair console, if you are tryingto do a repair install, that's not where you want to be...

Skip the first repair option you will be given a second repair option later on (where it asks you where to install to)...

Iv'e had to format, had no choice as it wouldnt let me repair it paused on 73% before finalising installation of XP for an hour. Oh well..

Im now on a blank desktop and run up another problem which isnt related to my original post, instead of starting a new thread i was wondering if any of you guys could tell me how to correct the problem. It's my internet connection, it wont establish a local adress, it sais it is connected but not sending nor recieving packets? at 4.00Mbps when i have only a 1.00Mb con.

I remember having this problem before, it wont allow me to connect to the internet but forgot how to resolve it. No drivers are installed, the network card has been recognised and the modem works fine.
