I just started my Dell the other day and as the subject says, it didn't boot and went to a blue screen which said something along the lines of.

PDEngine.exe application error
could not be written "0x7c918fea" to memory "0x000000010

it gave me options to start in Safe mode and a few others or to start at the last point where everything was ok. I choose this option and windows started without a hitch and I didn;t notice anything out of place or missing. I've done a few restarts since then and nothing out of the ordinary has happened since.

BUT, then today I was loading some more programs on my recently formatted laptop. One of them being Perfect Disk 8 (trial) and WinPatrol alerted me to the startup entries. One of them being PDEngine, the other PDAgent

I'm assuming Perfect Disk caused this error on the Dell. Anyone have any Idea as to what may have happened...now I'm afraid to use the program on either comp.

Any help/insight will be greatly appreciated.

If that happened to me I would uninstall the program and not use it again. A disk defragmenter needs to be reliable or it can trash your system.

I've still been getting error screens even after uninstallation
a new one last week.

Application has generataed an error....

I was thinking of reformating and partitioning the drive the way I want it not the way Dell sent it preloaded. Would this be a good reason and time?

YES, it look's like Perfect disk has a bunch of left over crap - uninstall did not remove program completely. You're better off starting over with a complete format and only install the bare necessities.
