Blue screen afer inserting DVD

If windows XP Pro has been rebooted without a DVD in the drive, then when I attempt to insert a DVD, windows crashes (blue screen: IRQL not less or equal; stop: 0X0000000A (0X0000000B0,0X0000000Z,0X00000000,0X804EA44F) When you send error report, Microsoft says the problem is with a driver. When windows reboots after the crash, with the DVD in the drive, then Power DVD opens and plays the DVD without problem. I can also remove the DVD and insert others and play them without problem. Only if windows is rebooted without a DVD in the drive does the problem return. I Am using Power DVD version 5 with latest patch. Plextor PX-708a drive (also have a Pioneer DVD drive; problem is the same if using that drive), ATI 8500DV allinwonder videocard, C Media sound chip on Soyo p41 Fire Dragon mother board, Pentium 4-1.8, I gig RAM. I have the most recent drivers for all components. [email protected][/EMAIL]

Iwanted to add some info and ask another question. A Google serach on the numbers in the error message (804EA44F) found a couple of hits from users who had a IRQL not less or equal crash when trying to install a 120 GB Wester Digital hard drive and I have a similar hard drive that I installed recently to use with digital video files. Are these error codes specific to the problem causing the crash? How do I begin to track down which driver file is causing this conflict?
Thanks for the suggestion but that didn't work. I have uninstalled the DVD player software (Power DVD), reset the default player in the DVD drives (suggested by Cyberlink support) unistalled the DVD drives one at a time, tried turning off all startup programs in msconfig (suggested on Plextor site. They report Blue Screen on inserting DVD when conflicting programs installed but in this case didn't help and besides problem occures with Plextor and Pioneer drives), upgraded all drivers and firmware for the drives, all to no avail. I even tried uninstalling the hard drive from Western Digital that had been reported to give the same error code but that didn't help. Logically it makes no sense that this is a driver conflict or software issue since the same drivers and software are installed whether I reboot with a DVD in a drive or not. I have floppy and CD set ahead of the HD as boot device in BIOS. Is the BIOS or windows sensing the presence of the DVD on startup and changing some setting that is preventing the IRQL not less or equal conflict? Something like that must be happening because once the computer has been booted with a DVD in one of the drives, it is like there never was a problem. Any more suggestions would be appreciated.
