Black screen after windows loading screen, no login

Hello,
Recently my pc just showed a black screen when waking up from sleep, and i had to restart the pc to get to the login screen. Today the same thing happened, but now i cant get to the login screen even when rebooted.

I have rebooted approximately 20 times, booted in both normal safe mode and safe mode with networking, yet still get black screen. I have tried booting from EFI Device (standard), Hard Disk and CD&DVD with no results. I have also tried going back to an older version of the pc (recovery), but it failed and couldn't load the recovery save.

The pc is old, from 2011/12 i would guess, runs with 8 GB DDR3 RAM, i5 2320 Quadcore CPU, 2 TB HDD and some Acer motherboard (Acer Predator G3610 i believe, not sure). The original GPU was a Radeon, but after about 2 years i switched to a Nvidia GTX 970 (MSI), and had no problems whatsoever. Could it potentially be a faulty GPU? I would find it hard to believe the GPU would break overnight, considering i played 6+ hours of CS:GO yesterday with no problems.. and well.. how does a GPU break overnight when not turned on?

Anyways, any help here is very much appreciated!

It could be something running in startup that has a new drive and maybe is resisting power management. Have you updated any drivers recently?
One thing I would do is see if you can get to Safe Mode but without Windows version and make and model of laptop or desktop, it is hard to say anything else or tell you how to get there.
