First check that the sata port you are using in enabled in the bios. Most boards default to enabled however do check. Next [if that was not the problem] change the sata data cable and use a different pw connector.
The sata port is enabled, because I tried using it with the optical drive, and it works just fine, but simply it just wont detect the hdd. Just tried out in another system, and it wasn't working. The strange thing is that it was new. I'll attempt to get a refund, if not, that's not a big deal. I tried with a drive I didn't even know I had, and it worked!You may simply have a failed hard drive. Have you tested the drive in another system?
Green drives from WD are not the top of the line [those are the black drives which are more reliable]
