I upgraded the firmware of my Gateway M200ARC's Samsung SN-324F CD-RW/DVD-ROM combo, and the BIOS no longer can see the combo drive. My old firmware version was U200, and the Samsungood Web site had version U205 available (U205) which is what I upgraded to. Used the Samsung firmware update utility from their site. Any help to fix my problem is appreciated. Had sent an email for help to Samsung on this.

If I used the wrong firmware, if there a way to fix it or roll back to the old versoin? Thanks.

If a BIOS flash goes bad (and unfortunately a significant % do) then it is often the end for the drive, (or motherboard when the PC BIOS is being flashed).

The golden rule is never to flash a BIOS unless you are correcting a known hardware compatability issue. It isn't a recreational activity.

The problem is that if the failed flash prevents the drive from appearing on the IDE BUS, then it cannot be accessed to reflash it back to the original version.
