This is not about my laptop i am doing this to try to help my friend. He recently was messing around with his computer and tried to download a keygen( i am not requesting one!!) and he got a virus. He then restarted his computer and it was fine for a little bit until it restarted itself. Then when he tried to boot it up again it said something about windows not being able to find win32 root directory or something like that. What can he do about this problem?

System Restore is a utility that works for Windows that will "take the system back" to the date you set it to. You won't loosed any saved data but you will lose options you've edited. Such as Internet Explorer or Firefox options. This tool can also be used to revert any other settings.

Click here for a tutorial on how to System Restore.

Try that, it might not work as it sounds like you've got a virus.
