Hi just wondered if anyone had some recommendations for some legal Music Download sites ?

Anyone use 'Napster' ? Which boasts ' Get instant access to more tracks for less cash with Napster Premium. Legally listen to and download over 500,000 tracks for less than 10 bucks per month'

But is only 'compatible with Windows XP/2000' as yet ?

Thx !

I have downloaded approximately 6-8 CD's (I only put about 20-22 songs on a CD) from CD Now. They provide free sampler full songs from a number of their artists. You have to spend some time looking for them. Tower Records probably does the same thing. As for music services, I like Rhapsody. It has the music variety that I want and just tons of music that I would not care for at all, but that's ok. Not everyone likes everything. Rhapsody also has a lot of "radio" channels and it even has a sort of free "radio" service. The free part has a very limited number of channels but one of the free channels is BLUES which is the type I really enjoy. Don't overlook the new Wal-Mart service. It is fairly new and is building its repertoire. The Wal-Mart site does not require a monthly fee, it just charges per download and at last look I believe it was 88 Cents a song.

I just tried the WalMart site earlier today. Fairly decent selection.

They even had "The Wild Tchoupitoulas" which is a New Orleans band with the Neville Brothers backing them up. Very difficult to find.

And I was also able to put together Jeff Beck's newest album from singles.

I have an MP3 cd player, which plays MP3 files and nothing else. It seems that walmart and most other sites are using WMA because of its digital rights management. Would I be able to convert the files?
Itunes seems like it is less restrictive, would it be better for someone who prefers MP3 over WMA?
