hard to title this, easier to explain.

had my computer for years, and this issue just started:

system beeps at full volume after certain click events.

One event is clicking to end a process in the task manager. (itunes helper, realupdate, etc, non-critical processes, that i have been ending for years without getting the beep).

Another I noticed is after scanning with an anti-virus program. It found one result (actually erroneously listed; required by AdvertBan). When I clicked to cancel the results, it beeped the same full-volume beep.

The beep is a DOS-sounding beep, not a cutesy xp-cartoon style beep.
I have not done anything I can think of to initiate the beeping. No new programs or anything were installed. I'm the only user on the computer.

I have a real-time antivirus, and real-time anti-spyware running all the time.
I'm currently doing a scan with every scanner I have installed.

Look at the sound settings and turn OFF all event sounds.
