Baffled by Black Screen

Hello Techies!

I've used this site before, but it's been so long that I've forgotten my old password. So, having said that, here's my problem:

I have an Asus computer (touch screen; Windows 7) that used to work very well. However, due to what I assume is teenagers downloading God knows what, I ended up with what was first the "blue screen of death", and then turned into the "black screen of death".

After perusing endless (and useless) YouTube videos, I cannot find what I'm looking for. So, here's where I am now: I have a black screen with my mouse arrow as the only thing that shows. Normal and "safe" modes don't work after repeated efforts to restart. I have a flash drive with a reboot disk on it. I've tried to reload Windows, both with a partition and without, and I get the same error for both: "The WIM file is corrupted. Restoring the system is aborted. Please try again next time."

I have no idea what that means, and I think it's a stupid message. Evidently, "next time" never comes. So, I come to you, techies, for help. Keep in mind I'm not a computer guru, but, as a technical writer, I know I can follow complete and explicit directions. Any help you can give will be appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help.

Usually "god knows what" leads to a virus, i'd bet that's your issue. Post up in the malware section...

Can you bring up the task manager? ctrl - alt - del, if you can, find explorer.exe and kill any/all instances. In task manager, click on file - new task (run) - type explorer and hit ok. That may bring your desktop back.
Thank you, Rhynes, for your response.

I am unable to bring up the task manager, or anything else. Every reboot takes me to the same place. In an interesting twist, I now have a new, different blue screen, which says "A problem has been detected, and windows has shut down to prevent damage to your computer. A process or thread crucial to system operation has unexpectedly been exited or terminated." It then goes on to ask if any new hardware/software has been installed, and if so, to contact the manufacturer to see if there are any windows updates missing.

It does offer this technical (cryptic) bit of information: "***STOP: 0x000000F4 (0x0000000000000003, 0xFFFFFA80072649E0, 0xFFFFF8007264CC0, 0xFFFFF8002F8ADB0"

Collecting data for crash dump
Initializing disk for crash dump
Beginning dump of physical memory
Dumping physical memory to disk: 100"

And that's where I'm at now. I'd be grateful for any help, and thanks in advance.

http://forums.techguy.org/virus-other-malware-removal/943214-everyone-must-read-before-posting.html
and post the required information please
Thank you, Wayne, for moving my post.

I did read the malware posting primer, and would very much like to send you they system info.exe stuff, but unfortunately, I cannot get the computer to do anything except what I've described. (I'm obviously communicating with you from a different computer).

If you have a way to bypass all the black/blue screens so I can get the information, I would be more than happy to send it to you.

Thanks, and sorry for the trouble.
