how can i see if a hd i bad? is there a program i can download?

think my Slave in my 240 is bad :down: ...

i have SA on it, and when i play it, every soo often it like freezes, and u can hear the hd clickin....

You could get HD Tune which will give you the S.M.A.R.T. info and you can do a error scan.

ok, well i scanned, and it didnt say it was bad or anything...

but around 5,000MB's, it did that click thing...

what could that be?

is that a sign of a ba HD, and HD Tune isnt findin the bad sector or somethin?

When you click on Health is there anything in there in red?

no Red in Health...

why is it clickin if nothings wrong with it?

Are you sure the sound is coming from the hard drive and not one of the fans? Just to be on the safe side I would make sure all of your most important data is backed up.

Another thing you can try is go to the website of your hard disk manufacturer and download one of their diagnostic tools. Most of them have diagnostic software for their specific drives.

the HD is pretty old, and it's a Samsung...

all i had on there was SA stuff lol...

i transferred all the stuff off the Slave and put it on my Master...

tomm. im takin the Slave out, chuckin it, and puttin a new 1 in ..

Replace it with anything but a Samsung and you'll have a better drive.

If it's clicking it's bad. You should run Samsung drive testing software, but really not necessary replace it. BTW there is nothing wrong with Samsung hard drives either and replaced with a Maxtor, will fail much quicker.
