hello,
I purchased the 2TB storage in google ONE drive and I thought about using it to backup my iphone as the iCloud is way too expensive.
Initially I found out easy tutorial online like this one everything seamed easy but Google must have changed something because it doesn't let you backup easily and directly from the iphone photos, but it requires now an annoying passage on google photos.... which I definitely don't want to do, I have 4 years of photos and videos and it would be just a useless waste of time.

So to use Google drive effectively for backup I should first upload all my data in google photos??
Or just select manually all the photos , create folers in google drive and do things this way?

Is there a more efficient way to backup, say the entire iphone in google drive, without too many manual passages?

thank you!

When I used it, it did back up all videos/photos that it found and those I added after.

I am not sure if it will compress them or make them a little less quality to save space (if I remember correctly)

However, at least in the States, 2TB GoogleOne per month is $9.99 USD after a discount is expired, whereas iCloud+ is $9.99 per month.

If you have other Apple devices, iCloud would be a better choice to begin with.

But: Don't think that your entire phone will be backed up from either service. It will back up only the documents. iCloud will retain your messages. I just did a new iPhone and all my app data would have been lost if i didn't do the transfer between the two phones.
