I have had a problems displaying background colors when using MS Excel or Open Office Calc. and the newest versions of IE or Firefox. (firefox 6.0 displays colors fine)
I format the cells/row to have background colors but the colors do not display on my desktop.
If I call up a spreadsheet that has been built on another PC it will not display background colors on my machine. If I transfer the spreadsheet from my PC to another PC, via FLASH, the colors will display correctly.

I thought the problem was my All in Wonder 9600XT so I changed it out with a nVIDIA 5200.
The swap out did not fix the problem.

Additionally, I am still using older versions of IE and FireFox (6.0) because the newer versions do not display correctly.

Is this possibly a BIOS problem?

You're listing so many different programs that I have no idea what you're doing. You should probably describe what you're doing step-by-step and tell us exactly what you want to have happen.

Here are the step I follow.
In Excel or Calc:
1.. I open window to format the cells/rows to have background colors
2.. I close formating window
3.. Background colors do not display on my desktop.

If I look at the a spreadsheet on onother PC the background colors are there.
I can only get a WHITE background on my desktop.

I thought the problem was my All in Wonder 9600XT so I changed it out with a nVIDIA 5200.
The swap out did not fix the problem......

Background colors of what? Cells in a spreadsheet? How are you viewing this in a browser? Are you exporting it as a Web page or something?

FYI, Firefox 2.0 is the newest version... you might be thinking of IE 6.0... but 7.0 is out now so if you have IE 6.0, it's not the newest.

background colors in the cells of a spreadsheet.....( if I change cells or row's background color to light blue, as soo as I hit the ok button to return to spreadsheet editing, the cells and rows dont change.....

Also, you are right. I am using and older version of firefox, version 1.0.6, and all is good with this version, everything on web pages seems to display corrrectly..

I upgraded to firefox 1.5.0.3 and background button collors on a browser's button were all white.....so I went back and reloaded the older firefox 1.0.6.

Sorry if this sounds confusing, so let's take ALL browers issues out of the equation and only work witnin EXCEL.

I have this happen when I am using EXCEL.

I open a spreadsheet.
I format the spreadsheet to have a background color for a ranges of cells.
I exit the formatting screen.
When I get back to look at the spreadsheet the cells never change to the background
color that I had selected.

If I save the speadsheet to a flash drive and open the spreadsheet on another computer the background colors display fine.

Is this easier to follow?
