Custom Avatars Are your own creation or an image you have found that you wish to present. If you find an image or create one
you wish to use, you must shrink it to 50x50 pixels or less and keep it below 20KB in size. Then you can upload it through the Avatar section of your profile.
Dave
ok...how does the animation come about?
Shawn
Avatars That have motion are actually animated Gif Images.
They appear on webpages you see. Animated Gifs are a series of similiar pictures put together to resemble motion. Much like a motion picture or a cartoon. If You wish to learn how to work with and create animated gifs there are programs you will have to aquire. If you wish to take an existing animation you find anywhere on the web and use it for your Avatar you can down load it to your computer through the save as function and then go to www.gifworks.com and upload it there to make many changes including resize to 50x50 and save back to your computer for upload for avatar. There is a thread heavy into graphics and talk called rambling discussion in the random discussion area. AZ, Hewee, Buck, and others will help guide you
if you wish to learn more.

haha...thanks!!! what program do you use to do that?
Welcome

I used Ulead GIF Animator 5 to do it.
does it cost much? is there a shareware program available?
You have to pay for it, but they have a 15-day trial period... so if you only want to make an avatar and don't plan on using it again, that would work out great for you. You can download it HERE.
Oh yeah I forgot... if you want to buy it, looks like it runs at $44.95 for the license.
Thanks, Mike! I will download this and try to learn as much as I can in 15 days.

:D :D Yeah lets cheat'em for making us pay for it... and then you can just download another copy of the trial under a different alias. I know there are free programs out there but can't recall any off the top of my head.
cool! a new toy for 2 weeks! thanks!

Nah... I only plan to download it once. I just want to see what it's all about.

Yep have fun in your short 15 days... :D Fortunately for us christmas break has just started... so in my 15 days of break I can learn all I can from the program in its 15-day trail period... :D
I only get 11 days of break. I want to do some hunting, play my GameCube, go fishing, and work with my VB games. So much to do... so little time!!

Uh oh.... we are starting to ramble. :D

Davey, thanks a ton! I will definitely use that as my icon. How many frames did you have to create to make it do that? I will download Ulead tonight.

-Chris
Well too bad for you... you don't get that long. However I deserve it more than you... :D I was ready to explode, if I had to deal with one more day of class, I would have. Finals all last week were brutal and so now I need to catch up on my sleep... do maybe I won't get that much time to use the program much afterall... :( I also need to build a computer for somebody. I'm going to get one of those alluminum cases (supposed to significantly lower heat in the system... and I believe it. Specific heat of alluminum is .902 J/mol K--see I do deserve this break if I can remember that from way back when), 1.5 or 1.6 Ghz cpu, 256 mb RDRam running winXp. Say Chris... did your dad ever get that 2.0 Ghz cpu? I have seen people o/c those upto 2.4 Ghz... I wish I could get my hands on one but they are still something like $350 or there abouts. (or is it more... I don't remember) See now I am starting to ramble... beter saunter on back to the rambling discussion. :D
