Hi Guys,

Anybody else having problems updating AVG again. I have done the fix several weeks ago and everything worked fine, then all of a sudden I am unable to update, even from the update page at grisoft.

I visit a number of sites like the "Techguys" and the odd thing is that all of the complaints about the failure to update on AVG seem to come from the UK. Do residents of the USA have any problems??? I am starting to think that they must have a virus on THEIR computer at AVG. If it carries on like this I will have to look around for another free antivirus program.
Has anyone got any suggestions? Ted

A young man in the UK has started to add AVG updates to his site and can now be added using a further adjusted url.ini. If anyone is interested, I can post the instructions on how to alter it

Well there as been a mixture here with differnt msgs though sometimes.

Go to C:\Program Files\Grisoft\AVG\6.0

Find the following file

url.ini

Right click it and click rename
call it urlold

Now open Notepad
(Go Start | Run Type in Notepad)

Copy and Paste the following in green to Notepad

[SERVER_NAME]
1=free.grisoft.cz
2=ftp.grisoft.com
3=www.grisoft.com
4=isecurity.org.uk

[SERVER_URL]
1=http://free.grisoft.cz/softw/60/fe
2=ftp.grisoft.com/pub/softw/60/fe/
3=http://www.grisoft.com/softw/60/fe/
4=http://www.isecurity.org.uk/avg
Actual URL=4

Click File | Save As
Change Save as Type to All Types
Give the file the Name of url.ini
(note case)
Save the file in same folder that you changed the first file
(c:\Program Files\Grisoft\AVG\6.0)

Right click the AVG Icon in the System tray and click Exit

Now go to Start | Programs | AVG 6.0 for Windows | AVG Console to restart AVG

Double click to open the console,
Click Update Manager
You should now have FOUR choices to choose from as your download site

To Putasolution, Yes please post the instructions. I for one will be interested!!
UK Computeractive Magazine which is due out tomorrow gives the excuse that we are trying to update at the wrong time and suggests that we update in the morning when all the Americans are in bed. They also give instructions on how to visit AVG's site to download, but when I tried I was told by a dialogue box that I had a file missing.-----The mystery deepens!!!!!

I have been having the same problems(USA), error msgs(can`t connect with internet, connection lost, and today for the first time I got the msg that the dl was corrupt, and would be deleted. Although the little tweak of changing the url, sounds easy enough, I deceided to remove AVG, and try Avast free/home edition. Just dl it a few minutes ago, we will see.

Yes that's working for me as well... (Canada).. however I hope that UK url isn't just somebody fiddling around and the update is actually a virus.

That update asked me to reboot my machine..and previous pattern files didn't do that.

I go to the Grisoft site and download the updates, manually. Then, if I have to reformat/reinstall, I already have all the updates.
