I'm using microsoft photo editor. On one particular picture it says in the attachment line "3yellowroses.jpg(388KB). The actual size of the picture is 5" X 4" when I view it in my photo editor.
I'm not familiar with MS Photo Editor but 388KB is a very large jpg file. Some how it is not resizing correctly. About 600 x 400 pixels is good for email and fits on 15" monitor without scrolling.
You could download and try Irfranview . It's a very popular image viewer and it's free.
iview download went well....but i'm still having the same problem. a 3" x 5" picture is received by email recipient as a 14" X 16" picture. i called @home support and they told me they thought it was a microsoft problem. is that helpful information?
The image is arriving 14 x 16 I believe because of the 388KB file size. Try resizing one with Irfranview...
Open Irfranview..click file then open...find a picture then click open it...now click the image tab..then resize/resample... in that window put a dot next to 640 x 480 Pixels then click OK.. then click on the file tab then save as.. in the save as window save in where ever you normally save pictures then give it a name and save as type make sure it saya JPG then click save...now open an email and attach that picture. the file size should be under 100KB.
PS.. before you attach it you can check the file size by right clicking on it wherever you saved it and clicking properties.
What size is the file after you resize it ?
If the size is under 70 or 80KB and it still arrives to at 14" x 16" then I'm going to bed and scratch my head
I've downloaded IrfanView and really enjoy its picture editing capabilities. How can I configure email in InfranView so I can use my existing address book thru Outlook Express to email images?
You need to go back to that Irfranview site and download the plugins...If you are familiar with uzipping files you can dowload just the iv misc.zip which contains the email stuff if not you can down load the all plugins.exe to your desktop and just click om it when it has finished.. then when you have a picture open click on options and select send by email.
PS Did you get the pictures to send at the smaller size?
Yes, I did get the pictures to send at the smaller size and I have downloaded the plugins already. I can get it to send by email. I just wanted it to send via Outlook Express with my existing addresses. IrfanView gives me the option of setting up an address book in IrfanView. Can I download my existing addresses to IrfanView or else get it to use Outlook Express as my mail provider?
Have not figured how to import the address book from outlook express yet but... open a picture click on options then send image by email then..click settings and fill in your email address and put a dot in Use MAPI protocol then on the Address book tab at the moment I have just copy and pasted a couple of addresses from my address book in to the Irfranview addy book then I click OK. click the down arrow in the to field and click on an address and click send
