Asus S550CM Strange issue please advise

1239 Views 7 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  Ashishkm18
I have an Asus S550 CM laptop and i have been facing strange issue with the laptop ,While working on laptop it turns off exactly after 30 minutes as if power cord is unpluggedi have tried various solutions like replacing the thermal paste , removed hard disk , running on battery. Even if i run the laptop in bios it will run only for 30 minutes. After the laptop has turned off and the very next moment when i switch it own it will again run for 30 mins .

so far unable to figure out what is causing the laptop to behave in such a manner if any one can put some light on it would be a great help.

ASUS VivoBook S550CM (support site)

Have you checked the advanced power options to see if it's set to automatically shut down after 30 minutes?

Thanks for reply checked every options infact in started computer in BIOS and kept it for 30 minutes and it turns off the strange thing is not an heating issue either as soon as it turns off i turn it back on again and it will run for next 30 minutes .

I even kept cooling pad also still the same...
If it's shutting down in exactly 30 minutes after every startup, I can think of no other reason other than a setting in the BIOS or in the advanced power settings that's causing it to do that.
I'm not there, so you probably need to ask someone computer-knowledgeable to help you.

thanks for your reply . I would like to inform you that i have even removed the bios battery so that the bios settings are reset if in case there is something wrong with power management settings. One more thing i would like to bring into your notice that my version of bios does not have an option of Power management.

I even tried to reflash the bios which was unsuccessful in case if its infected with a virus which has timer programmed and causing this issue but so far no luck as i have even removed the bios battery to reset the bios as well .. please let me know if i am missing anything.

thanks
Ashish

lets see if some one else has any suggestions with this model .. earlier i had an HP laptop it did worked well for around 5-6 years and then the Display IC was gone ... Then i went with Asus Laptop again it seems like its the motherboard issue which is means i must replace the motherboard I believe .I am trying my level best to fix this motherboard.
I could try reflashing my BIOS. However whenever I try doing it in the BIOS it tells me "Build date too old".

It's literally the exact same BIOS Asus S550CM 202, any suggestions?
