Ok, I've been through **** trying to get a new build to work mainly due to RAM problems, the story is far too long to explain here but basically I have been reading about RAM for this model of mobo and I don't want to make another mistake buying RAM for it. Can anybody recommend some that IS compatible and preferably for dual channel 2GB around 200$ I don't need anything over the top or extreme, just some decent RAM that is compatible and won't fail me.

Thank you for all responses.

I rather not buy crucial because it is a bit too expensive and also, I checked the compatibility list on the website and most of them are offbrands that you can't purchase at newegg. I'd really like to hear from people who have the board and some cheaper RAM. Thanks

This is precisely why you are in trouble. Ram is not the place to save money and it sounds like you already should know that. Especially not with Asus boards.
Youy do not have to buy crucial from Crucial, you can take the model and buy it at newegg which is cheaper. You can also go to www.corsair.com or www.kingston.com and find acceptable models using their configurators and buy them anywhere you like, but if you keep trying to save money, you will keep wasting it as the cheap ram is mostly high density, which is also the least compatible,

I have the same motherboard and I am using the Kingston KVR533D2N4K2/2G as reccomended by Kingston and Asus. You can purchase this memory from Newegg.com for around $220. I have had no issues wahtsoever wtith this memory.

I had OCZ, not compatible with that motherboard. RMA'd 6 times for different sets so I finally sold it. and as I've read other places only certain model numbers of certain brands are compatible due to the retardation of the way the board was made. I'm simply trying to find which model versions of each brand are compatible.

Thank you senior geek, appreciate that from an owner.
