ASUS laptop battery not charging

Hello! Hopefully this is the right place to post this.
I've had an ASUS X555L laptop for a couple of years now, and am just now experiencing charging issues. I'll try to supply as much information as possible, but please do ask questions if it in any way can help solve this issue!

-The laptop was charging perfectly fine yesterday. When I unplugged the AC adapter for the night and plugged it back in this morning, it did not provide any charge to the computer.

-When the AC adapter is plugged into the laptop, the charging light will not turn on and when looking at the battery settings, there is no mention of the cord even being plugged in.

-I have restarted the computer, held the power button down for 15-20 seconds, let it sit, and turned it back on. None of the aforementioned have fixed my issue.

-It seems to not matter if my laptop is fully shut down or is on, as it does not charge either way.

All of that aside, I was wondering if this is possibly an issue with the AC adapter itself, of which I would need to purchase a new one, or if I need to buy an entire replacement battery to solve this issue.

Seems like the AC adapter is not recognized.
It could be the adapter or it could be the charging socket on the motherboard.

Do you ordinarily unplug the adapter every night?

If it were the battery, you'll still see some sort of charging light. That's not to say that the battery is still good. Since it might be close to 5 years old, the battery might need replacing too but I don't think that is the main issue.

Remove the battery. Plug in the AC adapter and plug it into the wall. Does the computer power up?
