Hi guys, great site. I have a problem with my e-machine. I am trying to log on to AOL using version 6.0 software and am using Windows ME. I can hear the modem dialing and it goes all the way to talking with network after that an error message pops up that says dw(something) caused an error in explorer and I have to shut it down. I called AOL support and they said that I have too many programs running in the background and that all i need is systray and explorer and AOL opened up. when i used msconfig I disabled all the programs in startup but after rebooting I get explorer errors one after the other and cannot use my computer. What is this dw error and what does this file actually do. HELP.

See this link :

http://www.computing.net

Use the search box and type DW Error. Several posts here related to this specific problem.

Alternatively use http://www.Google.com

Search for DW Error.

It seems there is a difference of opinion whether it is Downloadware / Spyware or a legitimate Windows Update Facility. You might like to read further before deciding what you want to do.
