Hello all..

I am new to this forum so thanks for being patient in case I mess up here! I haven't seen anyone else ask this and would be most interested if someone has suggestions for me.

I run AVG virus protection every night and update every day automatically. I also about once a week scan with TrendMicro Housecall or McAfee free version and also visit PCPitStop regularly where you can do a virus scan and a PC check up. I also use LavaSoft ad aware to remove spyware weekly and delete my IE cache of temporary files at least once a day (I visit a LOT of sites and places in my online work).

Anyway, I received a notification of trojan and virus infection so consistently followed it around and finally have all my virus programs saying i "have no virus infections found".

My question is: "whenever i leave my puter for a while and come back there is this note on my screen "Trojan virus found - Run AVG asap to remove and gives me this "C:\SystemVolumeInformation\_Restore{90D75D48-8BEE-B-913-5B495471FD2E}\RP129\A0020293.exe - I have done a search.. cannot find this file... I have run all my virus programs two or three times and am assured I am clean. I have done a defrag and a scan disc and still I get this notification. Oh, I am running windows xp and when i click on sign in, this same notice repeats itself about 5 times and I have to x it out each time.

I am hoping this is just an irritation and not infection or a problem, but I like to run a clean puter! Any help or comments about this situation would be greatly appreciated.

when you get a virus and clean it out,it remains in system restore.
so you have to close system restore by turning it off and then back on again.
then reboot so the computer can create a new restore point

Thank you Steve.. even though I am "counting" backwards on those umm .. days .. now.. lol - We can't have me being quote "older" now can we?

Anyway, thanks for the replies I received on this post and you both have truly helped me and I do appreciate it a lot. This must be the best forum around as I have posted questions before in forums and never received ANY answer let alone TWO very helpful answers in very short period of time.

Lending your guys' expertise to this forum is very wonderful of you both!

Have a great day now!
