Android 9: Install APK From Unknown Source

834 Views 3 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  Fireflycph
Hi,

I had to get a new phone (major calamity, mucho problemo, world falling apart 'n all that ... not really) and, by and large, transferring everything went OK. I have an older Smartwatch (Sony Smartwatch 2) which worked fine with the previous phone (Android 7); both phones, by the way, are non-major brands (CUBOT).

I can't get the new phone to connect to my older one. I've installed Sony Smartconnect and it tries to install the Smartwatch 2 Host App but it's not found on Google Play Store. I have found it on the Sony site but I can't find a way to enable installing from other sources. OS version is, according to the sales gumpf (A9 is a bit different and I haven't found a way to tell me directly) Android 9 Pie so ...

Any assistance gratefully received :)

James

If found this.

"Another way to do for most phones are going to Settings on your menu > Apps and Notifications> Advanced> Special App Access> Install Unknown Apps."
