AMD A10 - Upgrade issues

I have a Toshiba Satellite L875D-S7232 laptop with a windows 10 operating system.

Recently I go a replacement for my processor chip. I wanted to replace my AMD A8-4500 M Series chip with a AMD A10-5700 M Series chip.

The chip was in good condition with no bent pins and matched up fully to the socket. I had checked prior online for comparability of the chip and everything seemed fine. I followed the instructions for installation and booted the Laptop. Nothing turned on except the fan after a few moment. I switched the chips out to make sure the laptop was still working and found it was and started trying to trouble shoot:

* I updated my BIOS to make sure it matched my system and card and double check it was updated in the boot menu.
* I found a driver for the AMD A10-5700 and downloaded it to make sure I had compatible drivers.
*I checked the pins, socket, amount of thermal paste, screw tightness, and all other physical issues I could think of.

After 8hrs I am stumped and and in desperate need of help. This is my work computer so I really need this update to work. I'm hopefully its some dumb little thing I've overlooked and not that the laptop can't handle the chip because I read a spec wrong or that the chip is a dud. Any advice at all is welcome even if its to retry steps already done using specific links/sites.

Thank you.

How exactly did you check? I checked the specs on that laptop and I do not see where there is any processor upgrade info AND the processor that came with the laptop is the only one listed ie there are no optional processors.

Next question
This is my work computer so I really need this update to work
If this is a mission critical system, why in the world are you messing with swapping cpus? If this is a company supplied computer, you need to contact your IT dept.

To go from here I do want to make fully clear I am not an expert in tech and it is why I am seeking help. When checking the compatibility I first checked the upgrade limits with my laptop model. Then looked up the chip to see if it would fit the socket. Then double checked it was compatible for the model. And finally went through to find if others had successfully upgraded from my current chip to the new chip with the same laptop. If I missed a step y all means tell me I am open to learning and going in to do more research, even if that ends with it being the chip won't work.

This is not a company supplied computer. I am a independent contractor with my own business so I do not have the resource of an IT department. Because it is a small business as well and the original simplicity I thought the project would have after research as well as what I had thought was confirming information of compatibility I did believe this was something I could do.

I apologies if I have made you annoyed/angry with my issue or doing something wrong in my process. I honestly did not mean to cause any trouble. I just don't know where to go from here because I am still learning with these things. I will understand if nothing else can be done with my case, and do thank you for finding the info that you did as it is a step forwards in understanding the issues.

Thank you.

No, you did not make me angry.
The only one who can tell you if you can install that chip is the laptop mfg. Just because you have a given socket, does not mean it supports all cpus based on said socket. Generally with a laptop, unless the cpu you want to install was an option when you purchased the laptop, you are not going to be able to install the processor.
BTW I did not find any cpu upgrade info in the manual for your laptop so it is my guess that you are out of luck in regard to upgrading the cpu. You can contact the mfg and ask them however do understand the mfg has no vested interest in you upgrading; they would much rather sell you a new laptop.
-nod- Okay, thank you very much for letting me know. Its a bit of a let down that it probably won't work, but I will contact them and see what I can do. Thank you for all your help!
The Bios has to be compatible with the new Cpu and in this case it isn't.
I would put the old A8 Cpu back in and sell the A10 or send it back for a refund if that's an option.

Sadly yes I now know this. Contacted the seller and found they won't take it back since it was opened so will have to find someone to take it. Thank you for reconfirming the data!
Sometimes you just have to take a chance and try it.

Maybe you could sell it on Ebay or similar ?

Checking into it now.If not there, a few places in town buy computer parts so might take it.
Good luck with selling it. :)
