I own a Galaxy A7 Lite tablet and lately I've noticed that some files, apps and webpages I have stored in my homepage folders have taken on the 'Chrome' icon. How do I get rid of this infestation and have my stuff revert back to my intended titles? For example, this is my Recipes folder...

I own 4 Galaxy devices; I don't have a "home page" folder on any of them. So, I have 3 questions to better understand what you did.
1. Are you using Samsung's builtin file manager or have you installed a file manager app? If you installed an app, which one?
2. What type of files are the recipes? (docx, pdf, jpg)
3. Do you have files going to googledrive?

Sorry plodr. I call my homepage where I keep all my folders and the content within these folders. There are mostly apps and webpages in these folders. Like I have a News folder containing many newspaper urls, Weather folder with different weather apps and urls, and Recipes which normally have names of different recipe names except when the word Chrome takes over, as in my screenshot I added. I have noticed in my My Files folder that I have Google Drive and One Drive listed for some reason. As for a file manager I don't know if Samsung has a built in one which I use, or where it is. Or if I downloaded another one. As you can probably tell by my initial post, I'm not the sharpest tech tack in the box.

I don't create folders so I need to know what you did to create a folder. I "stack" icons on top of each other. All my MS apps (Word and Excel) are stacked and all my Google items are stacked (google, chrome, youtube and drive).

Samsung file system should look like a yellow icon with a white folder and It is at the bottom of the screen. OneDrive and Google Drive are part of android so that's why they appear. Mine simply say Not signed in. I don't use either on my tablet or phone. It seems like you are using Samsung's builtin file system.

You still haven't answered what format these recipes were in.
How did you get them on your device? Did you download them from the internet? Did you connect the tablet to a computer and copy them from the computer to the tablet?

Hi plodr. Would it be okay or appropriate for me to send you a screenshot of what I call 'folders' when everything is as it should be on my first screen? The names I give these are something I am asked for once I try to drop one icon into or onto another. And the names I give them usually relate able to the content within. For example, if I try to join the website front page of the New York Times into or onto an already present icon for Chicago Tribune,,, my tablet will ask me to name this new coupling. And so I will name it News. Any other newspaper website front pages I want added to this collection will now be dropped into the News 'folder' as I call it. Sorry about the long ramble.

You are not storing the recipe on your device; you are storing a webpage url. That's why it is listed as chrome and chrome opens to go to that page.
So you have to be content with the last screenshot and not stack things on top of each other, I suspect. How did you get the last screenshot? You will have to open that when you want a recipe.
Note: I don't store website urls on my tablet/phone.

HI plodr. The last screenshot I took is of the 'Recipes' folder the way it should be, with all the icons representing individual recipes within it. This is what it looks like for a couple of days it seems before 'Chrome' takes over most or all of the icons. Then I restart the tablet and it goes back to the individual recipe names.... for a couple or few days again.

They go to the intended recipe web page that is supposed to be there. It's just annoying having to remember where thirty or forty recipes are with the Chrome icon on top of most or all of them. Until I restart the tablet and they revert back to individually named recipes.

OK, so the issue really then is the bookmark icons are changing, but the main info (the URL) is not affected.

Does the icons provide any information for the shortcut? Like for example, icon location?

when did this start happening? It seems that there was an update to chrome that affected bookmarks (on PC) a while ago.

Also are you using the sync option?

I regret that I don't know if I'm using the sync option or not, but I'd be happy to check with a bit of direction Couriant. Also I just tried to send you a screenshot of an example what a page of my Recipes should look like.
