Hello, I bought this screen off of eBay https://www.ebay.com/itm/3D-120Hz-G-Sync-15-6-LCD-SCREEN-B156HTN05-2-fit-B156HTN05-1-f-Asus-Acer-AUO52ED/352379961125?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 and it posts, and I can access the BIOS and everything with it, but when it goes to the login menu, it is not backlit. When I get to the login menu, everything is very dim. I have an external monitor attached and the laptop works fine, but for portability I need the screen installed itself. This is me trying to go from 60hz to 120 hz. Any help would be appreciated. I was told that I need to update the motherboard, but I don't know what to do.

Any of the internal hardware that is needed to run the built-in monitor at 120Hz would all need to be designed to do so.

So then I can use an external monitor 120hz no problem, but not a built-in display? That sucks, I've heard stories of people upgrading this laptop to 120hz, but maybe it was just lies.

<shrug> Maybe ask one of them exactly how they were able to accomplish the feat?

If all of the needed internal hardware was designed to be able to handle a 120Hz built-in panel, then it should work. If not though, it won't.
