i have just read the problem other mac,ies are having ..i am having the same problems audio chat and video chat will not hook up at different locations yet when they do not connect i can still tex i left the DC area this morning in a hotel that has high speed did not work flew to tampa and got connected at airport both video and audio returned to DC hotel and got i cht encountered errors with participant and after accepting invitation to chat got that i did not respond my real feelings are not printable why is ichat not consistant i never know is i can conferance til i try with my fingers crossed and a 1500.00 computer that is more moody than....... please help

First issue: Double-posting is frowned upon, not just here, but in pretty much all fora on the Internet.

Second issue: Stream of consciousness only works if others are in the same stream as you. We're not. That post is all but indecipherable. Here's some spare punctuation that you might want to sprinkle throughout that post, preferably in logical places, since it's all but unreadable the way it's written:

Third issue: Is anything regarding Internet chatting ever truly a nightmare? If it were that important wouldn't one handle it via phone? I could see it being a "thorn in my side", a "relative inconvenience" or even a "moderate aggravation." But a nightmare?

Final issue: As best I can tell from your post, you seem to have some issues with chatting, possibly regarding a video teleconference. If you're looking for audio/video connectivity you might try Skype. It works. It's (generally) free, and works for voice and video teleconferencing. Of course, the bandwidth provided by a hotel or airport might limit the usability of any realtime audio/video conferencing. This requires a pretty large amount of bandwidth.

EDIT: (to be on topic) please re-phrase what you are saying, Apple has iChat with built-in video confrencing and uses the AIM protocol
