I've been having trouble with the above 2 items noted in the thread title. I gather they may be connected in some way, but I'm not clear about this.

I think I cleaned up the Trojan SPM/LX by following instructions in a thread - I used smitfraudfix.

However, my desktop still has a big banner that says "YOUR SYSTEM IS INFECTED..." etc. I guess this is connected with the Advanced Virus Remover,wth dire warnings printed underneath.

Also, Task Manager is inaccessible.

I have attached a log from Hijackthis, so I'm looking for direction on to how to eradicate this problem. I don't know much about computers, but I know how to get into safe mode, and I know how to follow instructions.

Thanks for any help you can provide.
