O_O yes it matters which way you put it in! dont want to break the mobo 
if you want to check and see if its reading it correctly go to your start menu, then to all programs, accesories, system tools, then to system information. when thats all loaded up you can scroll down to wheree it lists Total Physical Memory. if that number matches up with what you should have in total, then everything is in order.
