My name is Joe, I've become aware of a virus on my system recently. I need advanced help removing it because it's a tricky well-thought out virus. First off I'm running Microsoft xp home edition 5.1; on a regular basis I open my process trees and shut down unnessesary memory hoggers, since I need the mem for video games, and I've become quite familiar with what's nessesary to keep, whats harmful and whats not etc...
The other day I caught a glance at two new process trees entitled: AcroRd32.exe (i think this is the root virus executable that spawned others) and 3HFr37wd.exe (this 2nd process set off the red light in my head); I didn't think much of it and closed them down -- later they were back up. I went online and did a quick research and sure enough I learned it could easily be walware if located in C://windows or C://windows/System32 ... and wouldn't-cha-know-it both of those process tree names were executeables in C://windows/System32
Anyways, now I'm in the early stages of a viral take-over; I'm seeing indicative signs of this left and right: AcroRd32.exe no longer spontaniously pops up, 3HFr37wd.exe does from time to time pop up (most likely it attached it's execute command to one of my other files because it dosen't seem to be reopening when I leave my comp idle). In the sys32 folder the files I deleted were: 3HFr37wd and 3HFr37wd.exe.a_a; those files have since been recreated there, and it's still in recycle bin so something is reconstructing it, there are other files in sys32 with the exe.a_a which asserts to me it's beginning to multiply, when I opened recycle bin another mass of jumbled letters formed a new process tree (e.g. Cf20c35.exe or somthing but it closed down before i copied it).
When 3HFr37wd is open as a process tree it opens a hidden internet explorer so i know information is being transmitted back to the source, when i close 3HF.. Iexplorer closes too so there's some inherent connection. I'm going to go run a hijackthis log and come back to this forum with the results--
