I upgraded to a. reader 8, it will not run I just get a message " has encountered a problem and needs to close" I run windows xp media. Where should I start?

Adobe Reader 8 is freely downloadable from Adobe.com.

I just installed it and opened a PDF (my mobo user manual). It runs fine, but I noticed when I scroll through the pages... Task Manager shows AcroRd32.exe memory usage increasing, finally stopping at 92,300 K.

How much RAM do you have? (only guessing it could have something to do with your problem).

I had a similar problem with AutoCad 2006 and XP SP2. Solution for that problem was to add it the the list of excluded programs for Data Excecution Prevention (System Properties > Advanced > Performance Settings > Data Execution Prevention > Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select. Then Add, and browse to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 8.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe).
