This computer intermitantly freezes-not related to any particular program or activity. I did a clean install of 98SE on the new hard drive and replaced the CPU with a new used one from ebay. No change in the behavior. Do I need a new motherboard? There was no heatsink grease between the CPU and heatsink- could it be as simple as that? - It is more likely to happen after a half hour or more. How do I tell? Frustrated!

Does your BIOS support tempatures? Boot into your BIOS and see what the temp of your machine is. I've seen weak power supplies do this too if it's not a heat problem with the CPU.
