647 Views 3 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Cookiegal
I closed my girlfirends Microsoft Edge browser and all cookies and history is deleted. Lost ton of tabs of sources for her thesis work.
What i have tried:

-system restore; doesnt work, no points to restore to
-command prompt ipcongfig/displaydns does not show any sites connected to, i have not flushed dns
-i cannot find the file location for the browser history, i have recovered a ton of files from user/appdata but cant find out what are the files for browser history, and/or how to open them

Please, this is very important, all help is needed

Does your gf have a Google Account, and was a session open when this happened? You could access history through that if it was. www.google.com/history, and log into the account that was open. You can check there. If not, there is free data recovery software you could try (Recuva is good. It gives you specific options to recover, as well as All. FileHippo has it).
Normally once history has gone, it is gone but you might be able to retrieve it ( if very lucky)

Moderators are divided on this one but I think we'll err on the side of caution as we don't know the actual circumstances. If work was that important it should have been saved and not left open in several tabs to easily be deleted by anyone or even a computer glitch or power outage. The more you fiddle with it the less chance of recovery anyway so I'm closing this thread and recommend you take it to a reputable computer technician.
