Hi Guys ,

My PC started rebooting after Windows boot screen with the blue screen of death, and I pulled the drive out, put it in another PC and tried to recover some of my files using the old drive as a slave.

Unfortunately, the files are "private" files registered to my user and I get a "permission denied" error when attempting to read them.

Is there any way to view / copy these files?

Thanks,
Luc L.

Hi Lucl, welcome to TSG.

Try THIS resolution from MS. It tells you how to take ownership of a file/folder in XP.
