A word on no-ads donations

Now that we're using vb3, you can check to see when your no-ads subscription ends by clicking on the "Donate!" link at the very top-right corner of any screen or by choosing "Paid Subscriptions" under your User CP. If you currently have no ads, there will be a line showing you when your subscription started and when it ends.

Now, here's the thing: everyone who was previously on no-ads has been reset for a full year from today. That's so I didn't have to go through everyone's profile to figure out your particular date. If you know yours expired, I know you'll be honest enough to donate again anyway. :)

On the other hand, if you're one of the people who have more than one year of no-ads owed to them, due to a donation of $40 or more, send me an email to [email protected] with your TSG username, approximate date of donation if possible, and your real name so that I can find your record.

Thanks!!

Did the expiration clock begin when the site was modified? I'm showing another full year, FYI...., as of today.

Woops, I see my question was already answered.
Randy, try to see if you can delete your post using the manage tab off to the right....or do you have one???
so, when I go to edit my post, and choose to delete it, and then fill in the reason box, it goes to a Mod or Admin?? Guess that means I'll have to take more time to preview my posts, and think about my responses, cause I don't want to add more work to y'all.

Now, i will take a look at this post to see if I have a Manage option somewhere.

***Nope, no Manage options, guess that's for you important folk!!;):D

I'm not sure I understand this, Mike. Are you saying that for every 20 dollars, you get a year without ads? So 40 dollars = 2 years, 60 = 3 years and so on?

You got it, Valley!
and thanks for increasing the allowed pic size in our profiles. 150x150 was awfully small, I thought! :)
I think Mikey is being MORE than generous with the no ads thing. I know when Mouldy did his "match the donation" competition, a lot of us donated , and more than $20. That was a donation, not a subscription. I did not see that as buying extra years, but rather as donating.

Mike, personal opinion, I donate what I want to (and what I can afford), without worrying about removing the ads for a year/$20. that's just an added bonus. I donate cause I want to, and having the ads reappear every year would be a reminder that it's time to help out again.

That is, of course, assuming that my ads will be turned off when the date mentioned is arrived at.

I assume that I will get a reminder email? If not, maybe you can code it to automatically enter an Event in our Personal Calendars to remind us that we should donate again.

Yes, I see your point. I did not know that there was a difference between a donation and a subscription but what you say makes sense. If I had to go with the donation I made before the one in Mulder's name, then I would think my time was almost up or already up so the extra year is very generous.
Hiya Val, darlin' . . .

my point is that Mike has not set up a subscription to TSG as of yet, so why should he give us a subscription reward??

every donation made, to date, should be treated exactly as that, a donation. I don't like the idea of a subscription, as it makes me feel like I should be getting something for my money, and removing ads wouldn't be enough for me to subscribe. Having ads removed as an added advantage to having donated makes me feel like I got something for nothing.

it's all semantics, but I do not think Mike should make the donations into something more than they are.

Just my 2 cents.
I just love the new lay out Mike! very slick :)
I wish more people thought the way you do, Randy. :)

I DO !!! - Bugger the Irish :D

Hi Randy
I know I paid to turn off the ads and my year is up about now.
But I also gave Mike added money as a gift to help out.
Now Mike has given me back a gift of another year without ads.
Thanks Mike because you did not have to do that because the added money was for what every you wanted to use it for.

Ah, you can hire me to beat it into their brains :D :D

Mike, shouldn't they be able to delete their posts entirely if within the 24 hour time frame?????????? As long as it's not the first post in the thread?????
Yup, should be able to by clicking Edit, but I believe it'll still leave that little marker that it was deleted.
We can start a thread that is called the DELETE TEST Thread to test it out. :D

Hey! (formatting done manually)

I made a donation around midnight last night, and I just noticed the ads are already gone.
