Someone had the URL in a post about a website with older versions of freeware programs, but I can't find the post with the "Search" function on the Board.
Anyone recall what this site/URL was? I *think* it was in England.

Hello Gary; how are you?

There is this site: http://www.oldversion.com/

One word of caution: some of the stuff there is known to contain spyware. I think it is "you picks yer app and you take yer chances!". I would recommend running anti-spyware apps right after installing any of it.

This is one Windows 98 site but I don't know if it's located here in the UK or not.

You may also find something of interest on AXCEL'S Win 98 page;
http://www.mdgx.com/ or on Lightspeeds's Reference page;
http://www.oldstuff.myagora.net/lightspeed/main.html (although he seems to specialise in DOS, 3.1 and 95).

Lots of detail to get into!!

(Sorry. Just re-read your post and realised that you didn't mean only 98 fixes and patches. I'll leave the post in case the links are of use to anyone else).

Ok, thanks for info. Was lookig for WinAmp 2.76, I understand its last version that' work with the 'Tara' RealAudio converter plug in.

Was looking at the Music player by dbPowerAmp, but the plugin for RealAudio files appears to require the Microsoft updates listed below before the Audio Player is set up & ran.... And I have no idea if these are on the HD, or even where to look for them

"Common Controls Update" .... Update to Version 5
"DCOM (Distributed COM) ... Needed for Scripting Control
"Winsock2" .... To install Winsock 2, Dial up networking (DUN) 1.3 must also be installed first

So I was thinking WinAmp 2.76 would be easier to setup/use.
HOWEVER, that still leaves a problem: How do I convert .RA/.RAM files to .wav or MP3 as they are playing?
