Hi, just wondering. is there a way of testing my own FTP server as if I'm outside the network? Without hooking up my dialup or using someone else's computer since it doesn't seem to work.

Try opening a dos window and typing ftp 127.0.0.1

I don't have a ftp server installed right now so I'm not sure if it should work or not. See what happens though. Post back with your results

Oh wow. It asked for username + pass and I managed to log in and saw the files.

I'm also experimenting with the command:

ftp [my ftp address] which seems to find the server but I can't log in....which is how FTP client's were when I tried to use those.

I used 'get [filename found on server]' to download a file and it worked. Does this mean that someone outside my network is likely to be able to do the same?

Is there anything else you think I might like to know?

also, how do ou access folders with a space? It's not like DOS where My Documents = mydocu~1.

Ah, it works. I'm at uni and can access me files. I'm a happy bunny...

Finally, is there anything else you think I might like to know?

also, how do you access folders with a space? It's not like DOS where My Documents = mydocu~1 is it?
