Hiya

I'll choose the Newsgroups one :p

Okay, first off, do you have a paid newsserver that came with your ISP or not. If you do, then can guide you in the setting up. If not, its easy anyway

For the free one:

Go here http://freenews.maxbaud.net/ and type in anything in the Search Box at the bottom. eg virus or whatever you want. Next it will come up with a list of newsservers. Click on one of them and your Outlook Express will open. It will say you are not Subscribed to any groups. Do you want to download.
you do, so go for it. If you get a NNTP box popup saying error, then this server has timed out or has too many connections.
If this happens, just rightclick the server in the left and choose Remove Account.

However, you may find one that works and downloads groups. make sure that when you were in the above site, you checked to see if you can post or not. If you cannot and you want to, you can go here http://groups.google.com/groups?group=*&hl=en

For the above link, copy/paste into your Search bar as the *&hl=en gets missed off
and search for your group and post. You will have to join (free)

Now, to keep it running okay, you need to ensure that the timeout is set to 5 mins.

rightclick the server on the left and choose Properties. Advanced tab and move the slider bar to 5mins. Apply

Also, Tools | Options. Read. Under News, it has how many headers to get. Put that to 1000.

If you have any problems let me know.

As to the pics, have you moving onto onto either floppies or a CD? You may have to Save As and then browse to your disk if they are in a message.
Regards

Eddie's last point is right on. If he pix are just sitting in Outlook Express, you have to save them. You just open the picture, right-click on the picture and say "Save". Unfortunately, I believe you have to do it one at a time, unless anybody knows differently.
