98 could find the driver for my usb (not a clue what type)but now ive installed XP it cant find it please help

Does device manager show a ! or ? under Universal Serial Bus?

If yes, then you either:
- enable the USB in the BIOS
- download update USB drivers for your motherboard
- update the system bios

I belive you should be able to pull out the information by using a software like Aida32 that can be downloaded from:

Check the Device Manager for the device. If it's not there, then make sure in the BIOS the USB is enabled.

Last thing is to download the latest drivers for your motherboard.
