Hello! I have recently been given a very large 4k monitor. It’s a seiki pro sm40unp. There’s no way I could afford a 4k monitor right now, and even if it’s old I’m very happy. However, there’s one problem. Its only hdmi connection is hdmi1.4. (It has DisplayPort 1.2, dvi-d, and usb up&downstream). I have an Xbox one s, and have already seen that it refuses to change resolution to 4k using hdmi. From my understanding almost all 4k streaming requires a hdmi2 connection, and other people have has similar problems with early 4k monitors. I want to buy a roku 4k or something similar, but I can only assume it would downscale to 1080p like my Xbox . I was wondering if there are any workarounds? Would a hdmi2 to DisplayPort 1.2 adapter be compatible or work with either Xbox one s or roku? Should I just buy a pc media center?Ps: company producing these is now out of business, cannot find any firmware updates for the life of me online.
thanks for your time!
