Ok i know im probably stupid for asking this, but what exactly is that ip, and why is it so popular on geek shirts?

Im pretty sure its the localhost ip...aka a reference to your own computer

127.0.0.1 is always the loopback. It is the ip adress that internal severs will use. (Eg, a local webserver... belive me its done). On Linux, you will find this adress much more often than in windows.

into Google. You get about 78,000 hits.
